I’ve had the great privilege to work on many different types of projects in my career, from films to COVID-19 information to reproductive rights. This is a small snippet of my work.

Translations for those that need it most

Immigrants and asylum seekers are currently some of the most persecuted individuals in the US. I’ve managed and reviewed the translations of various communications to not only help them submit all the necessary documents translated into English to the immigration authorities, but also to ensure that they understood their rights and what resources were available to them.

Natalia is an excellent professional. She has always done great work at both translating and managing projects. Any company would benefit from her quality work, patience, and professionalism.

She also worked on the subtitles of the film and, despite the short turnaround times, she delivered the project on time and I was able to submit my work to film festivals."

    —Alejandro Venturini, Filmmaker

  • "Natalia is extremely professional and knowledgeable of the tools of the trade. Working with her is easy and seamless: she sets clear expectations and meets them every time. All bureaucratic aspects of the job were also clear from the start, and they were followed without any glitches."

Getting it right during a global pandemic

  • Solution Diagnostics is a medical and diagnostic laboratory that targets the world’s leading infectious diseases, including COVID-19.

They aim to provide highly accessible point-of-care diagnostic testing around the world, particularly in areas with high burden of infectious diseases.

  • Solution Diagnostics first tasked me with translating instructions for use (IFUs) for their at-home COVID-19 tests, which I translated into Spanish for the United States.

After that first project, they then shared animated videos to accompany the IFUs that they prepared based on my translations. They asked me to review the voiceover script for these videos to ensure that they were ready for the public.

  • Unfortunately, from the moment I received these animations, it was clear something had gone wrong. The videos were full of typos, misspelled words, incorrect capitalization, and missing translations.

More work needed to be done before these instructions were accessible to Spanish speakers in the United States.

  • What was supposed to be a straightforward voiceover adaptation review ended up being a full, end-to-end QA process.

I worked with Solution Diagnostics to come up with a system of sharing my feedback with both their animator and voiceover talent. Once all changes were implemented, I was also able to work with a trusted colleague to provide the necessary ATA certification that they needed to have final sign off on the project.
